Our Fees

Transparency about fees is an integral part of the relationship of trust between lawyer and client. Financial aspects are discussed at the very first meeting.
Each mandate is evaluated on the basis of the work carried out by the lawyer, the complexity and importance of the case, the responsibility assumed, the result obtained and the client's situation. As a general rule, the firm applies an hourly rate based on these criteria.
In certain cases, where the work to be carried out is foreseeable, a fixed fee may be agreed. In addition, if the mandate lends itself to it, it may be agreed that a share in the result should be added to the agreed fees, in order to align the interests of the principal and his lawyer(pactum de palmario). On the other hand, the law prohibits lawyers from entering into an agreement whereby their fees depend entirely or predominantly on the outcome of a case (pactum de quota litis).
In accordance with the practices of the legal profession, retainers may be requested to initiate work, and subsequently as the case progresses. Invoices are issued at regular intervals or at the end of the retainer.
Expenses and, if applicable, VAT (currently set at 8.1%) are billed in addition to the fee.
Linea Avocats also offers private clients a 45-minute initial consultation at a preferential rate of CHF 200 (incl. VAT), payable on site. This meeting offers the opportunity to quickly obtain a legal analysis and targeted advice, whether to assess the chances of success, costs and risks of legal proceedings, to analyze a decision or the scope of a contractual clause.
